Welcome to Open Doors Online English Tutoring
I'm Emily, founder of Open Doors Online English Tutoring with a PGCE in Secondary English from the University of Cambridge. I have been tutoring since 2022 and became a qualified English Teacher in 2024. I have worked in 4 schools in London, Cambridge and Devon (one of which was a grammar school), alongside tutoring an array of UK and international students. I decided to become a full-time tutor after seeing the huge benefits that tutoring can afford students: I believe that tutoring can transform students' experiences of English through learning in a way that suits them, targeting the areas they want to prioritise and receiving high-quality feedback on the work they produce. I seek to empower my students by making the journey to success visible and attainable.
As a Tutor, I am committed to making tutoring more appealing, accessible and affordable for all so that my students can keep their doors open for the future. To support this mission, I have created flexible ways to engage with tutoring to suit different needs and budgets, in addition to undertaking tutoring work on the government-funded National Tutoring Programme through MyTutor, where I empower disadvantaged students with high-quality teaching and supportive mentoring.
Additionally, I'm a passionate reader, reflected through my involvement as a Teacher Judge for the 2025 UKLA Book Awards. It is a pleasure to support my students to discover new books that ignite their passion.
